Iranian foreign minister Javad Zarif in the 4th edition of Mediterranean Dialogues (MED 2018):
he Mediterranean Dialogues (MED) is the annual high-level initiative promoted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and ISPI (Italian Institute for International Political Studies) in Rome. MED was held from November 22 to November 24 in 2018, and as a special dialogue, Thomas Gomart and Monica Maggioni exchanged views with Mr. Javad Zarif, the foreign minister of Iran.
After answering some questions about sanctions and Iran’s relationship with the United States, Mr. Zarif mentioned that the Iranian government is relying on its own people and that peace and safety will remain in the country with the support of Iranian people. Then, he proceeded with a comparison between Iran and Italy as the two nations with a history marked by the ancient “empires that have lasted more than the entire life of some countries”. Zarif mentioned Iran’s progress in the face of all the sanctions the country has suffered through the years. He invited everyone to have a more precise look into the situation of Iran in the region.

Then, Zarif asked others about the security and stability in the Middle East. He answered his questions by referencing the map published by a French agency in Which Iran was mentioned as the safest country in the Middle East, the country which is as safe as any other country in Europe.
