After the floods of northern Golestan and Mazandaran provinces of Iran, in March 19 and 20, several other cities have been affected by the floods in West and South of Iran.
Which areas are affected by floods in Iran?
Flash floods in Shiraz claimed the lives of at least 19 people and around a hundred people were injured, on March 25, while cities in Lurestan, Kurdistan, Kermanshah, Ilam and Khuzestan provinces of Iran have also been affected by heavy rain and floods. Emergency reliefs to the locals of flooded areas are under way.
As the rainy weather persists across the country, emergency and medical services are on alert for possibility of flooding in 29 other regions, including Eastern and Western Azerbaijan, Kermanshah, Ilam, Chahar Mahal and Bakhtiari, Qazvin, Semnan,Tehran, Isfahan, Karaj, Khorasan, Yazd, Kerman and Hormozgan. The Persian Gulf, Hormuz Strait and Omman Sea will also have a stormy weather today.
What should the people do?
The Iranians are celebrating Nowruz, ancient Iranian new year, these days and many choose to travel during the holidays. With the warning of Iran’s meteorology department about the heavy rains in several parts of Iran, authorities have urged people to stay indoors, and advised travelers against taking on the road for at least the next two days.
