What are Iran Visa Requirements for US, UK, and Canadian Citizens?

Iran Visa On Arrival for US, UK, and Canadian citizens is not allowed. Therefore, they should apply for Iran visa via Iranian embassies/consulates.

US and Canadian Citizens can apply for their visa via Interest Section of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Washington, DC.

UK Citizens can get their visa by referring to the embassy of Iran in London.  since individual applications are mostly subject to failure, we strongly recommend you to apply for your visa via IranRoute visa services. If you want to apply for your visa through Iranian travel agencies, you should first send some documents to your desired travel agency to apply for Iran visa on your behalf and get the  visa authorization code. Then, you should go to your chosen embassy/consulate with some other documents of Iran visa requirements to get your visa. Also, you should keep in mind that it usually takes 45 days to get your visa authorization code. Then, it takes two more weeks to get your visa sticker from your chosen Iranian embassy/consulate.

Note: As citizens of the US, Canada, and UK must have the company of an officially licensed tour guide by the government of Iran, they should cover 30% of the expenses for their guide (50 euros as per day) after their trusted travel agency has confirmed and received their visa authorization code. There are only a limited number of Iranian local tour guides with such a license and this rule includes all kinds of tours, be it solo or a group. The traveler(s) must pay for the rest of their expenses in cash, once they arrive in Iran.

Iran Visa  for UK Citizens

First, you should send Iran visa required documents to the agency to apply for your visa and get your authorization code. The necessary documents are:

• A completed Iran visa application form (provided by the embassy or consulate)
• A high quality scan or copy of your passport(See the passport standard guide)
• A digital photo or 2 physical photos(See the Photo Standard Guide)
• Resume(US, UK, and Canada ONLY)
• Complete travel itinerary

After receiving your visa authorization code, you should submit your application personally to the consulate section of Iranian embassy in London, along with the required documents below:
• Original passport
• Completed visa application form
• Authorization number from Ministry of Foreign Affairs of I.R.Iran*
• Two passport-size photos
• Iran Visa fee: currently about 234 dollars (cash only, inside consulate)
Note: Applicants for Iran visa should obtain their authorization number via relatives, host parties for business in Iran, or via travel agencies related to Iran in the UK and Iran.

Iran Visa for US  and Canadian Citizens

Then you should post your “Visa Grant Notice” along with your passport and money order to the Interest Section of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Washington, DC. It is important to keep in mind that the Interest Section of the Islamic Republic of Iran does NOT accept prepaid return envelopes. So, you should add another 40 dollars for postage fee to the Iran visa fee (Americans 80 dollars, Canadians 65 dollars) before you obtain a money order. It usually takes two weeks for your visa to be issued, but if you need it faster, you should pay an extra 60 dollars.

Can Australian Travelers Get Iran Visa On Arrival?

  Australian travelers, who wishes to visit Iran, are qualified to receive a 30-day Visa On Arrival (VOA).

To have their visa on arrival, they should fill in Iran visa application form at the airport. However, it might turn out to be a time-consuming choice, especially in high seasons, when you should wait in long queues and do a lot of confusing paperwork, with a possibility of rejection which is not null.

Step 1: Apply for your visa at the VOA (Visa On Arrival) counter
Fill in Iran visa application form at the airport counter.

Step 2: Submit the required documents:
• Passport (within a 6-month validity)
• Visa authorization code
Hotel reservation voucher (if any)
• Confirmed return ticket
• Passport size photo (See the Passport Copy Standard Guide).
• The visa fee for Iran Visa on Arrival, the amount of fee depends on your nationality and is payable in cash. You can pay your Iran visa fee at Iran Visa and Passport Office at the airport.
• Travel & health insurance (you can buy a travel & health insurance at the insurance counter in any of Iran’s international airports. The insurance fee is about 15 euros.).

Note 1: Those who want to pick up their Visa on Arrival at any of Iran’s international airports are obliged to present one of the following:
• At least the first few nights of their hotel reservation and contact information
• Contact information of their host

Note 2: Also, you have the option to buy your insurance through IranRoute Insurance services and have a discount of 5 to 10%. In addition, if you apply through our insurance services for getting, you do not need to present your return ticket, hotel reservation and Resume at the airport.

Note 3: If you already have your insurance and do not wish to buy it at the airport, be sure to have the Terms and Conditions of your valid insurance at hand for inspection by the immigration officials. Your insurance should explicitly contain the phrase “Iran” or “Islamic Republic of Iran” or any other combination of these phrases exactly written inside the Terms and Conditions under countries in which this insurance is actively available.

Step 3: Pay your visa fee

Step 4: Hand in your documentation and enter Iran
Once you hand in all the required documents listed in step 2 and paid  your visa fee, your visa on arrival will be issued. Now you can enter Iran.
Note: It usually takes 3 to 4 hours to receive the entrance stamp.
